Beewiz Travel

A travel publication lives entirely on organic search, which makes speed and structure the product rather than a nice-to-have.

01

The problem

Search traffic is the whole business

A travel content site earns through organic search and affiliate or advertising revenue downstream of it. There is no direct sale, which means traffic is not a marketing metric here, it is the revenue.

That puts unusual weight on two things most content sites treat as afterthoughts: how fast pages load, and how the content is structured for both readers and crawlers.

02

What we did

A theme built for the content, and caching that means it

The site runs a custom theme rather than a general-purpose blog theme, so the templates match the content types the publication actually produces: destination guides, budget breakdowns and adventure write-ups.

Performance is handled with WP Rocket doing page caching and asset optimisation. On a content site with no logged-in users and no cart, aggressive full-page caching is close to free, and it is the single highest-leverage performance decision available.

Category and guide architecture is designed for search intent rather than for the author's mental model, which is the difference between a blog and a publication.

  • Custom theme matched to the content types published
  • WP Rocket page caching and asset optimisation
  • Category architecture built around search intent
  • Content templates for guides, budgets and destinations
03

The outcome

Fast pages, structured for discovery

The publication serves cached pages against a content structure built for how people search for travel information rather than how the archive happens to be organised.

What we learned

  • 01

On a content site, page caching is the cheapest performance win available and there is no good reason to skip it.

  • 02

Structure categories around what people search for, not around how the archive grew.
